We've been told by the estate agents that the pub has been sold. Contracts were exchanged on Tuesday 15th December and completion is at the end of January. We believe the sale is for the pub and garden, but don't have any more definite information. There is lots of speculation but precious few facts, though I'm sure we will discover more over time.
The "Bromley Cross Consultation Document" I mentioned in my last post has been withdrawn because one of the landowners does not want to proceed on the group proposal and wishes to undertake their own course of action". See http://www.greatbromleycross.org.uk/node/16
So we're talking to the agents to try and get an outline agreement on our purchase for just the pub. More news when we have it.
Our first pop up pub is tomorrow night, Saturday 14th November, at Forge Cottage opposite the Cross Inn. If you haven't got tickets, you can still turn up on the night for a drink at our licensed bar and even a hot dog (if the people with tickets haven't eaten the lot). I'm sure we'll squeeze you in, 7:00 till 11:00. See you then I hope.
More good news!
Save the Bromley Cross has received our first grant, for our work to save the Cross Inn, Great Bromley as a village pub and amenity. The Plunkett Foundation has awarded us a bursary of £2000. This has already funded the cost of setting up and registering our new company, The Great Bromley Cross Pub Community Benefit Society Limited, and will pay for plenty of our other initial start up costs including printing our share prospectus, which we plan to publish soon.
Hope you all enjoyed the last quiz http://www.greatbromleycross.org.uk/quiz-oct-2015 and I hope to see you at the pop-up-pub on Saturday 14th November?
Linda and Steve Pinhey are hosting our next fundraising event, a bangers and booze pop-up-pub, with Sticklegs Brewery beer and Primrose Pork, at Forge Cottage opposite the Cross on Saturday 14th November, from 7:30. Tickets cost £5, which include your 1st drink and hot dog, and are available from Linda on 01206 230126.
We've had a change of venue for Saturday's Fundraising Quiz (17th October). It will now be at Great Bromley Village Hall, not Ardleigh as advertised. 7 pm for a 7:30 start. Please phone Dinah on 231059 if you haven't already booked your table.
Save the Bromley Cross now has a Community Benefit Society - the Great Bromley Cross Pub CBS - and it's been registered with the Financial Conduct Authority.
