Detailed Planning Application for the Cross Inn Garden

  • Posted on: 21 April 2016

One of the reasons we no longer have a local pub or post office was Tendring Council's decision to grant outline planning permission for 2 houses on the Cross Inn's garden at the end of 2014.  The detailed application for the 2 houses has now been made and is open for comments on Tendring's planning website. http://www.tendringdc.gov.uk/planning/planning-applications/view-planning-applications-and-comment

Save The Bromley Cross has sent in their comments which are now publicly available on the website as one of the documents for the application 16/00399/DETAIL (you need a login on Tendring's planning website to view it).  Our main objection is that the size of the plot has increased so it takes over the remainder of the old patio and goes right up to the pub entrance.  We believe this invalidates the application since the plot size cannot change between the outline and detailed plan.  We also highlighted that Tendring must consider the viability of the pub when reviewing the application.  They have a duty to ensure that the detailed plans do not have an adverse impact of the future of the Cross Inn which is still a registered Asset of Community Value, even though it is currently closed.

The closing date for comments is Tuesday 26th April and I'd encourage anyone who cares about the future of the Cross Inn to comment. You can comment on the website itself if you have a login or by email to planning.services@tendringdc.gov.uk quoting reference 16/00399/DETAIL
