Pop Up Pub Curry Night Feb 2016
What an amazing night! These Pop Up Pubs are going from strength to strength. We opened the doors of the village hall at 7:30 and people streamed in. I reckon this time we had 130 people there. It was so popular that we ran out of beer before 10 o'clock, but thank goodness for Sticklegs, our local microbrewery. Linda was dragged away from the village hall down to brewery, where she was able to rack off another barrel of "Bar King", which we had back on the bar in 20 minutes.
And top marks to the Ashiana Tandoori, for providing a great feast. Everyone I've spoken to has said that the Indian food was fantastic. Mine certainly was as you can see. Please show your thanks by supporting the Ashiana who are in Magdalen Street in Colchester http://www.ashianatandoori.co.uk.
We're not giving up on the Cross Inn, but in the meantime we planning pop up pubs throughout the year. The next one will be on May 7th at Southview, just down the road from the Cross, with live music by "Tea Ladies", East Bergholt's Premier Alternative Cajun Band! Click here to see the flier
Let's hope Tendring Council take note that the people of Great Bromley want pubs, not more houses!
Here's a few more photo's from the night. We got so busy we didn't have a chance to get pictures when the hall was full. I'll try and find a new photographer for the next one, who's not working behind the bar or washing up. And that reminds me, thanks to everyone involved. The adage that "many hands make light work" couldn't be truer on a night like this. Without all our volunteers, we simply could not have nights like this. And we even made a profit, which means we can buy our own glasses and bar equipment, since we can't keep relying on loans for ever.
